Seminar with Parvathy Baul in Hungary

Baul is mainly an oral tradition – intrinsically connected to the practice of Yogis, Sufis and Mystics – which serves to transmit the living wisdom spoken through the songs of great saints. It has been practiced and performed through generations since thousands of years, and continues even today. This living tradition of Musical Mystic Practice is evolving everyday through the contributions of contemporary Baul Sadhakas (Baul practioners) of Bengal. Its mission is to remember, to recognize the flower of universal love which blossoms in everyone’s heart, devoid of caste, class or religion or any kind of human made boundaries.
Parvathy Baul
Parvathy Baul is well known for her masterful solo rendering in the oldest style of Baul song and dance. She sings and dances only with the minimal use of Baul instruments like Duggie, Ektara and Nupur all played at the same time. She inherited this style from the “Parampara” of Shri Sanatan Das Baul (Bankura District, who followed the style of legendary Baul Singer-Practitioner Shri Nitai Khapa), and Shri Shasanko Goshai who left his body at the age of 100 in March 2006. She practiced various disciplines of painting, print making, theatre, and dance, the art of story telling with painted pictures and is a full time sadhika of Baul. She is one of the very few women who could withstand the hardships of the practitioner’s way of living. During the seminar Parvathy Baul will teach baul songs, kriya and hatha yoga.

The seminar will begin on the evening of 30th April, 2018, and continue until the morning of 4th May, 2018.

Destination: Kisnyalka Major, Hungary

The beautiful manor called ‘Kisnyalka Major’ is the destination where the retreat & the related ceremonies will be held. It is situated 5 km to the South from Pannonhalma, at the edge of the Pannonhalma Nature Conservation Area. The house provides simple, comfortable & stylish accommodation, with respective female & male bathroom & toilet facilities. There is also a large, circular meditation room with an amazing wooden ceiling structure & cover. Around the house, you can see the owner’s earth house & stud farm & a garden excellent for doing open air yoga or meditation. The manor is surrounded by hills covered with forests that have plenty of wild animals.

How to get to Kisnyalka:

By bus:

In Győr, get on the bus that goes to Nyalka. Get off at the stop called "Posta" (Post Office). From here you can reach Kisnyalka Manor on foot.
Start out towards Táp, then 300 meters after leaving behind the road sign indicating the end of Nyalka, where the road turns sharply to the left, at a wooden cross, continue your way to the right (straight on) on the gravel-dirt road. The manor is approx. 1000 m from here.

By car:

Use your map until youget to Nyalka, then proceed to the manor based on the above directions. If you come from the direction of Budapest, it is expedient to leave Highway M1 towards Székesfehérvár at the Székesfehérvár branch-road to continue on the main road No. 81. At Mezőörs – just as the sign shows – turn to the right at the first cross-road & go straight on until you reach Nyalka.
The other option is to use road No. 82 (road through Veszprém) and get to Nyalka through Pannonhalma.
